PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
This position is located within the Corporate Financial Reporting department of SAP. This department is directly assigned to the CFO of SAP and is responsible for the completeness and correctness of SAP’s IFRS accounting and for SAP’s external financial reporting under German and U.S. law.
Corporate Financial Reporting is structured in the following sub teams: ‘Local Accounting & Reporting’, ‘Corporate Revenue Recognition’, ‘Corporate Accounting & Reporting, Processes & Infrastructure’.
The position is assigned to the Corporate Revenue Recognition Team.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The job includes:
Researching, documenting, training, and providing guidance on revenue recognition and other accounting issues related to new cloud subscription, software and services business/pricing models. Working in cross functional teams to structure new business models and contemplated transactions in the light of the expected revenue accounting. Communicate and ensure enforcement of revenue accounting requirements in new business models and contemplated transactions.
Completing and maintaining SAP's Revenue Recognition Guideline (IFRS 15), adding revenue accounting for new business models; reviewing new technical accounting and reporting requirements, identifying their impact on the SAP group, and assisting to implement such rules.
Deal support: Providing transactional revenue recognition related guidance to regional and local revenue recognition specialists and line of business colleagues. Interacting with sales teams and work on deal structuring.
Overview of the methodology of preparing analyses of SAP product and service pricing to demonstrate compliance with SSP (Stand-alone Selling Price) in accordance with IFRS.
Anticipate and pro-actively address cross-functional effects of new business model accounting rules on SAP’s (F&A) processes, external reporting and other F&A areas.
Ability and experience with working in a matrix organization and a virtual environment. Engage in proactive and positive interaction with external auditors and internal groups (e.g. Sales, Legal, Development, Pricing and Finance).
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Thorough understanding of IFRS, in particular of the revenue recognition standard IFRS 15: Revenue from Contracts with Customers
Strong organization and communication skills; assertive; ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
Ability to concisely communicate and work in a team that supports multiple geographic regions across the globe
Business acumen and strong interest in building bridges between technical accounting and business model innovation
Strong interest in keeping up to date technically on aspects of accounting
University degree preferably in accounting and/or auditing
CPA, “Wirtschaftsprüfer” or similar qualification in the area of accounting/auditing
Experience in revenue recognition and related processes in the IT (e.g. cloud) or Telco-Industry gathered in a finance or commercial role is preferred.
Very good English language skills;
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 10 years of working experience in a publicly listed company reporting under IFRS or an auditing company are required.
