Purpose and Objective:
Ariba, Inc. seeks a Principal Business Process Consultant at our Houston, TX location to lead functional scope definition and design for Ariba Supply Chain Collaboration solution.
Expectations and Tasks:
Lead customers through the lifecycle of an Ariba implementation. Influence the opinions and decisions of clients using understanding of client’s organizational processes and structure. Know customer problems and anticipate their needs. Identify client issues and approaches for determining potential solutions. Recognize the service needs associated with a client-focused business model. Make the client successful within the realm and scope of the Statement of Work (SOW). Assist customers in the development of processes and procedures which leverage Ariba solution functionality being deployed. Author Functional and Technical design documents. Build solution, customer, and industry knowledge by leveraging the appropriate resources (internally at Ariba and externally at the client). Synthesize learnings into a logical story using quantitative/qualitative data and/or sound reasoning. Work with project manager to determine what resources/skills are needed and brings them in as necessary. Maintain regular communication with team members so everyone understands what the others are working on. Assist to refine existing or assists in developing new intellectual property and methodology, frameworks and tools (e.g., questionnaires, presentations, implementation methodology, performance management) based on project experience, research, and analysis.
Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field and seven years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. The company will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field and five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Work Experience:
Position requires at least three years of experience in each of the following:
- Logistics, Procurement, Material Management business Processes;
- Supply chain and Planning Processes; and
- SAP Ariba implementation best practices.
Experience to include each of the following:
- Mapping business processes and implementing in SAP software;
- Warehouse Management Processes;
- B2B Integration with third party Systems; and
- SAP Activate Methodology.
Travel: Position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel to various and unanticipated client sites. Telecommuting permitted. Position can be based in any US location.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $ 133,910 - $ 198,560. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $ 146,000 - $ 248,200. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
