About the team:
The Digital customer segment is one of the most important growth engines for SAP – one that has consistently been growing at double digit growth. To capitalize SAP’s market potential, we formed a new Global Digital organization to focus on scaling our reach and support to customers in cross-segment leveraging digital modalities in revamped Digital Hubs around the world.
The SAP Digital Strategy and Operations team is responsible for setting the global strategy for the Digital organization, designing and driving strategic growth programs, ensuring business operational excellence and managing the SAP Digital communication strategy.
To support our ambitious growth plans and drive data-informed decision-making, the Global Digital Strategy & Operations Director is responsible for supporting the Strategy and Operations function to harmonize and centralize regional SAP Digital Hubs performance metrics and analytics. The role plays a pivotal role in accelerating revenue-generating decisions through data insights and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Global Digital Strategy & Operations Director:
- Strategy Design: Identifies opportunities to accelerate top line growth and improve digital processes to optimize SAP Digital’s Go-To-Market strategy (e.g., building of business cases and capacity simulations / ROI assessments, identification of best practices across regions)
- Strategy Execution: Designs and manages strategic growth programs with executives and senior leadership to help advance organizational strategic goals and objectives (e.g., transformation program execution from the global perspective across all Regions and Market Units)
- Strategic Analytics: Develops and implements a comprehensive analytics strategy aligned with SAP Digital’s mandate and growth ambition to guide strategic planning and operational decision-making in close collaboration with the regional SAP Digital Hub leaders and the Customer Success Revenue Operations Organization (e.g., analysis from multiple sources such as internal systems, market trends, customer behavior, and industry benchmarks)
- Performance Framework Development: Establishes and maintains performance tracking systems to monitor and report on KPIs regularly. Provides real-time performance updates to the leadership teams, identifying trends, areas of improvement, solution recommendations and potential risks (e.g., identification and definition of key performance indicators to measure business success and performance at various levels, proactive identification of solutions to address regional SAP Digital Hubs performance measurement inconsistencies)
- Stakeholder Communication: Acts as a bridge between operational and business stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and ensuring alignment between business goals and reporting systems. To ensure relevant parties are informed, engaged, and aligned continuously.
Business Areas of Focus:
- Area 1: Generate compelling business strategies and best practices in collaboration with Global Digital and Regional Hub teams and pursue innovative opportunities. Support the teams in sourcing, managing, and implementing new Business Development, Demand Management, and Sales Enablement and Execution practices
- Area 2: Contribute to the development and refinement of SAP's Digital strategy. Support the process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short-, medium-, and long-term profitability and cost-to-serve. Provide senior level leadership with innovative business development strategies and business plans for execution through the SAP Digital Hubs and Global Digital Demand functions
- Area 3: Liaise with Global Digital Leadership Team on the implementation of operational plans. Develop, review, and report on Digital Hub strategy ensuring strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the team. Support and influence (directly and indirectly) to identify, evaluate and execute on important investment opportunities.
Experience & Educational Requirements
- 8+ years' experience in management consulting, investment banking, and enterprise software
- Professional experience working with international / global teams
- Analytical, conceptual, methodological, and other core management consulting skills
- Ability to create and articulate a strategy for a consulting business and the perseverance to execute it
- Conversational fluency in English a prerequisite, any other language an asset
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field. MBA and PhD degrees are an advantage
