The Midmarket customer segment presents an exciting growth opportunity for SAP. Midmarket refers to accounts below the Enterprise level. The definition of size varies by region and can range from companies with revenues below €250 million or below €1 billion. Midmarket is the primary new customer acquisition engine for SAP.
We are seeking a business planner and strategist to help define and advocate for the midmarket opportunity across all SAP solution areas. This individual would build models and frameworks to guide thinking around concepts like total addressable market, bookings growth, margin, go-to-market and more. To be effective in this role, analytical skills, strategic thinking, and business acumen must be complemented with the ability to navigate a complex matrixed organization, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence for impact. Curiosity, working with ambiguity, and drive for results are also key. Stakeholders and business partners include solution management, sales/customer success, corporate marketing, field marketing, and operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Analytics & Financial Modelling
- Access and analyze internal and external data to better-quantify and contextualize the SAP midmarket opportunity in terms of bookings, margin and more
- Develop frameworks and models (e.g. sensitivity analyses, NPV models) to identify and prioritize investment opportunities yielding high ROI
- Partner across solution area and regional teams to better define SAP Midmarket strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
- Lead key analytical projects that assist and influence the business
Business Planning
- Develop Midmarket GTM frameworks and strategies across the different SAP solutions
- Provide insights to support solution pricing, packaging and positioning decisions
- Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to advance those Midmarket frameworks and strategies to ultimately increase Midmarket focus and growth in terms of total cloud pipeline, bookings, and current cloud backlog
- Build financial models used to forecast and report the company's revenue and other key business metrics
Operations and Rhythm of Business
- Drive components of the ongoing rhythm of business including QBRs and MBRs
- Support annual planning motions and strategy
- Compile and review financial results and operational plans and communicate results to company leaders
Strategic Initiatives
- Drive other TBD strategic initiatives with the end goal of increasing SAP’s impact in the global midmarket segment
- Owner’s mindset towards business challenges. Ability to tackle complex situations, evaluate alternative courses of action, and provide fact-based solutions.
- Analyze new business ideas, make analytical judgments, and provide data-intensive analyses to drive meaningful change
Qualifications
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
- 10+ years’ experience in either finance, business planning, business strategy, product marketing, marketing strategy, or sales forecasting
- Strong experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
- Bachelors degree required, MBA preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills, working with large data sets and developing financial or business models
- Strong business and financial acumen with solid understanding of P&L and Balance sheet and excellent financial modeling background
- Relevant domain experience in B2B technology
- An understanding or software-as-a-service business models
- Strong consultative marketing approach to effectively engage with business partners
- Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills including influential leadership
- Comfort and experience leading teams who directly or indirectly report into you (e.g. via matrix and/or dual-reporting organizational structure)
- Action oriented and independent with strong organizational skills
- Effective at overcoming ambiguity with solid go-forward strategies
- Flexibility and willingness to prioritize and effectively manage a broad variety of initiatives
- Cultural awareness and ability to accommodate different time zones

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 140,400 - 320,800 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
