Purpose and Objective:
SAP America, Inc. seeks a Business Processes Principal Consultant at our Newport Beach, CA location to act as a senior advisor to the customer’s CIO/IT department with strong technology-operations focus, covering the entire IT department of a customer end-to-end.
Expectations and Tasks:
Understand the as-is situation and goals of a customer holistically and translate them into an adequate technology roadmap design (processes, applications, systems) as well as the appropriate operating concept based on SAP’s offerings. Operationalize customers’ IT strategies, identify relevant components, approaches, input required, etc. to derive the best possible technology and operations approach for the customer, combining public and private cloud as well as OnPremise scenarios. Challenge existing approaches/concepts to generate a state-of-the-art and future-ready outcome. Clarify existing expectations with the customer’s technology / operations experts and stakeholders; create an approach which integrates diverse points of views and which drives success from a technology and operations perspective. Collaborate with customers and SAP teams for the best possible implementation. Drive knowledge management and innovation activities based on this experience with customers. Document successful approaches, tools etc. and make them available to colleagues at SAP. Collaborate and co-innovate with the respective SAP development teams.
Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 7 years of progressive experience in the job offered or a related occupation. The company will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science and 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Work Experience:
Experience must involve 5 years with each of the following:
- SAP NetWeaver Administration and Performance Tuning;
- SAP HANA administration, root cause analysis and troubleshooting;
- HANA expertise on technical architecture definition, High Availability and Disaster Recovery architecture setup;
- OS/DB Migrations, Heterogeneous and Homogeneous System Copy;
- Hands-on skills with SAP HANA installation, upgrade, and maintenance;
- Java or JavaScript Programming;
- Relational databases including troubleshooting, performance tuning, high availability architecture in any database such as MaxDB, Oracle, or SAP HANA; and
- Linux.
Experience must also involve 2 years with each of the following:
- S/4 HANA implementation and transition scenarios; and
- ABAP Programming and Debugging.
SAP HANA certification required.
Travel: Up to40% travel required to various and unanticipated client sites nationwide.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $136,157.00 - $181,305.00. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $166,400.00 - $282,900.00 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
