Our team in Research and Development Sciences IT (RaDS -IT) comprises a diverse group of experts, including data scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers, who share a common objective: to empower and expedite the advancement of biopharmaceutical sciences. We work collaboratively with both laboratory and in-silico scientists, proposing and implementing creative solutions that facilitate the development of new organizational capabilities.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ML-Ops Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and iteratively developing our machine learning operations infrastructure, in partnership with engineering and cloud support teams. The candidate will collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to automate end-to-end workflows and ensure the successful deployment of machine learning models into production.
The role provides ample opportunity to collaborate across machine learning disciplines including image data analytics, bioinformatics, natural language processing, decision science, chemistry, and biologics, as well as to coauthor presentations, manuscripts, and public code releases. Engaging in project/product planning and end-to-end development is also highly encouraged.
Key responsibilities:
Engineer, build, and maintain models developed by data scientists to improve efficiency, reliability and scalability.
Develop, implement, and help adoption of engineering best practices for model development
Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to ensure successful integration of machine learning models into production systems.
Track and manage models throughout their development and lifecycle via model governance practices, including enabling data and model versioning.
Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and automated retraining systems for machine learning models in production (i.e. model drift, data drift).
Identify and address issues related to scalability, performance, and reliability of machine learning models.
Continuously research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve machine learning operations processes.
Create and maintain documentation for machine learning operations processes, systems, and best practices.
Partner with ML-Ops technology and infrastructure teams to evolve infrastructure capabilities and to help adoption of standard infrastructure.
Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in engineering, deploying, and maintaining machine learning models.
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices.
Experience tuning models for efficient execution and reliability.
Experience monitoring and providing support for models.
Experience developing, implementing and helping adoption of model life cycle management standards.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with monitoring and alerting systems such as Prometheus or Grafana.
Excellent communication, project planning, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the latest ML-Ops tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, TensorFlow Extended.
Experience with machine learning platforms such as Databricks, Dataiku, AWS Sagemaker.
Experience with DevOps practices such as continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), and DevOps tools like Jenkins.
Experience with data/workflow engineering tools (e.g., Airflow, Luigi) and/or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., AWS Cloud Formation Templates).
Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.
Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Cassandra.
Familiarity with software development life cycle processes.
Experience with cost saving considerations for execution of models.
Research experience in chemistry, biology, and other scientific areas.
Experience with making impact to organizational decisions on ML-Ops tools and architectures.
Experience with leading and mentoring junior AI/ML engineers to contribute as a team.
