This person will provide technical leadership to the team delivering strategic data products that ensure efficient and effective delivery of data process and projects. The candidate will be joining a high performing team that is passionate and motivated about meeting customer needs.
This is a work from anywhere/home position with the option to work in the office in Des Moines, IA, Columbus, OH, or Scottsdale, AZ.
We are looking for someone who:
Communicates with business stakeholders on requirements, data quality issues and how to use the data in the data products produced by the team
Analyzes, designs, and works with business partners to build high value business solutions
Mentors less senior associates with both business and technical skills resulting in skill growth
Influences IT and the data engineering team on adopting best practice technical designs and approaches
Learns new tools, technologies, and practices needed to maintain usage of best practices in analytics
Provides guidance to the team on the adoption of new technical features being added to the existing tooling
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
Programming skills creating re-usable coding frameworks using environment variables, parameters and metadata. Talent Management Information.
Analyzes data for data quality issues and proposes designs to increase data quality
Experience solving data issues resolved in the data pipeline
Experience using SQL
Experience using Python and/or PySpark
Understanding of Databricks or Spark or Hadoop/AWS
Compensation Grade G5
This role can be filled remotely (anywhere in the USA) or in a hybrid capacity, collaborating in office with the team a few days every other week. Subject to change.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus on mentoring and leading others to deliver high quality, cost-effective technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.
Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards.
Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.
Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices.
Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.
Experience: Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.
The national salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : 99,000.00-204,000.00
The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : 110,000.00 - 164,000.00
