About the role
As the Space Planning Manager, you will be responsible for building, maintaining and reporting on the overall space profitability model, by category and location, to make recommendations on changes to macro space so as to maximise space profitability. You will ensure an accurate library of current and historical store space plans is available to the business, to aid the decision-making process. You will also ensure all Micro Space Planograms created by the team are tailored into store specific store plans.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Identify opportunities to maximise sales and profitability by plan, by looking at profit density, shop efficiency, customer flow; and recommend changes in product depth of distribution.
Develop the space strategy, optimising space; taking a customer, profit and sales led approach.
Analyse sales date at a macro level and report back to the buying department with key insights and shopping trends to enable the team to make the right purchase for future requirements.
Collaborate with the project team and work closely with external design companies to ensure the store layouts are fit for purpose from a space planning perspective.
Use AutoCAD to plan individual stores and retail space within the airport as a whole to enable Senior Management to make right commercial decisions.
Manage and ensure new and refitted stores have correct planograms for opening by working with the marketing team to ensure the correct point of sale requirements are met.
Ensure all space change drives improvements to profit, customer journey or store implementation. Review the impact of change and feedback outcomes to Senior Manager.
Challenge and promote the dynamic use of space, generating ideas that enable flexibility, seasonal shifts where there are obvious opportunities.
Drive year on year improvements and returns from space with particular focus on maximising peak trading opportunities.
Conduct sales analysis, trend reporting and micro and macro space analysis and make recommend changes to maximise sales.
Create and maintain up to date layouts for store locations as determined by Senior Manager.
Work with micro Space Planning Specialists to ensure planograms are created and implemented accurately by store.
Maintain image library of stores, to correspond to the latest store layout.
Build internal relationships with operations and sales team to ensure smooth flow of product offer.
Keep up to date on competitor ranges and display techniques, to ensure QDF is a leader in this field.
Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications
About you
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
Relevant College or University qualification to minimum Bachelor’s level
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the retail industry
Experience in Retail Merchandising/ Space Planning at a macro or micro level
Proven ability to use AutoCAD
Ability to prioritise and adapt to suit the pace of the business and work under pressure working to deadlines
Ability to build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders, and have excellent communication skills
Ability to own multiple layouts and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
Highly numerate and proficient in reporting with attention to detail
Ability to manipulate and report on high volumes of data
Sound working knowledge of (Pivot Tables/V-Look Ups) and an ability to interpret detailed reports
Working knowledge of JDA/Spaceman/Relex or similar micro software
Understanding of retail operations
Methodical approach with an eye for the detail, good planning, organisational skills, and the ability to work on your own or within the team
Strong analytical skills with advanced use of data modelling and analytics tools
Command of English language
