Job Overview

This position is for a seasoned Software Engineering professional. The ideal candidate will perform all phases of system engineering and system support for the AIM CIS Platform environment. This position includes requirements analysis, design , system configuration, development, code/unit test, system integration, test and field installation. This candidate must be able to work independently.

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop software in C and C++ for mission-critical systems.
Collaborate with the software team to extend existing components to implement client requirements.
Participate in Requirements analysis and Design / Code reviews.
Analyze existing code and system functionality to enable the implementation of new elements or changes in the scope of project software.
Assist with functional testing and documentation.
Assist with documentation of procedures, training, and enhancements.
Interact with end customers on technical issues and correctly interpret their needs and requirements.
Follow and enforce engineering guidelines set in system development methodology.
Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
5+ years of professional experience in C++ or Erlang/Elixir software development for mission-critical systems.
Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with C, C++.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with MS SQL, Oracle or PostgreSQL database, and VMware.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Debugging, Test, Implementation, Integration, and documentation.
Development in C#, Python, Elixir/Erlang.
Hands-on knowledge and experience with General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format and data specification used by public transit agencies.
Software Systems Integration and experience with multi-threaded programming and practices.
Knowledge of Jira and Bitbucket.
Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely.
Self-driven, quick learner, results-oriented, and a clear focus on high quality.
Ability to work independently and analyze and resolve issues.
Highly skilled in problem-solving and commitment to delivering high-quality software.
Desire towards continuous learning of new programming languages.
Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility.
Ability to take ownership of medium to large-sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members.
Cloud Based programming experience.

Physical Demands:

Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee able to travel if needed less than 10%
Employee able to use a computer for programming and interacting with his team.

Work Environment:

The employee will typically work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment
Wabtec works in a hybrid model giving employees the flexibility to work remotely on Monday/Friday and in-office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
